In the overall discipline of landscaping, a major area that is fast becoming known for and practiced is landscape irrigation. Landscaping is described as the activity of designing a piece of land that has gardens, lawns, courtyards, trees, shrubs, plants, grass, and so on. A landscaped area, in order to look beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, is not only about growing trees and plants, but doing it with activities to make a home beautiful.

It is said that landscaping started as a discipline around the year 1598. In the artistic world, the Dutch is said to have started the landscape genre, and this later on took the form of featuring a picture of scenery on land, which is an artistic sensibility in itself. Later on, many techniques and systems were developed and these are widely used today to give or improve the look of a garden.

It is actually easy to set up a beautiful garden and make it look vibrant, but it is the maintaining process of its pristine condition in the years to come that is another story. Receiving water is a requirement for plants every day, and so, the supply of water becomes critical and is one of the most important necessities. In order to help maintain a garden, note that there are many water irrigation systems you can choose, from those economical to use and those that would lots of water.

Garden irrigation has three methods which are very common.

Rainwater irrigation system is the first type of irrigation system that we can briefly discuss. Since this kind of system does not have toxins and chemicals used by local water supply authority that treats and purifies water, this type of system is best for plants. It is also claimed that rainwater also helps in making plants grow larger and healthier.

The next kind of irrigation system is the drip irrigation which is described as running continuously and would need power to do so. This system can provide plants with targeted and specialized watering, but can be expensive because of the cost of electricity being used by its pumps. On the other hand, if you have a solar powered irrigation system, you can still get the benefits from a drip irrigation system since your cost will be reduced.
The third common type of irrigation system is the sprinkler irrigation system which can give water similar to that when there is a rainfall. With a system of pipes connected to spray heads, water would fall to a determined distance and falls on the land like droplets similar to rain.

Based on factors like water availability, local regulations, budget and your personal preferences, you can choose your type of irrigation system.
